Torus Foundation, the charity of North West housing group Torus, supported 368 people into new jobs in 2025/26, up from 290 the year before, according to figures the group published on 2 October.

The 368 included 15 apprenticeships, Torus Foundation said in a separate announcement in August. A further 1,083 people received bespoke information, advice and career guidance during the year, according to Torus.

The foundation is funded in part by HMS, the Torus Group's contractor arm, which gave £1.6m from its 2025/26 profits. Torus Foundation said HMS had put £11.8m into local communities through the charity since joining the group in 2019.

John Barrow, Managing Director at HMS, said: "Every repair completed, home improved and project delivered contributes to something much bigger, generating resources that help people improve their lives and access new opportunities."

The figures

Torus said the foundation's work covers four areas: employment and skills, health and wellbeing, financial inclusion and opportunities for young people.

On financial inclusion, the foundation said it obtained £3.7m in financial gains for Torus customers from additional benefits in 2025/26. Its Tenant Support Fund distributed £380,100 to 469 tenants.

Torus's announcement of the 2024/25 report gave a figure of £6.8m secured for Torus tenants. Neither announcement says whether the two figures are measured on the same basis.

Torus Foundation also said 41,450 energy vouchers worth £2m were distributed over the last year to households with pre-payment meters at risk of disconnection. The 2024/25 announcement reported 48,309 energy vouchers given out.

On health and wellbeing, 2,000 people took part in activities in 2025/26, compared with 1,507 who took part in sessions the previous year. Volunteers delivered 15,988 hours through the Healthy Neighbours project, and 553 customers were supported through a dedicated social prescribing service.

Measure 2024/25 2025/26
People supported into jobs 290 368
People taking part in health and wellbeing activities 1,507 2,000

Young people

The FireFit Youth and Community Hub in South Liverpool, which Torus Foundation describes as a cornerstone project, recorded 47,369 visits by children and young people in 2025/26.

Torus said 14,111 free meals were provided to young people attending the hub during the year. Its 2024/25 announcement reported 5,594 free meals provided to children and young people.

Background

Torus describes itself as the North West's largest affordable housing provider and one of the region's biggest and fastest-growing developers and commercial contractors. The group has more than 41,000 homes in its portfolio and employs more than 1,600 people across Liverpool City Region and the wider North West.

Torus said the foundation works with colleagues from across the group and with partner organisations in its communities.

The group has also invited suppliers to contact the foundation to find out how it can help them meet their social value commitments.
